Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Edgware Removals is committed to conducting business with integrity, transparency and respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to identify, prevent and address any risks related to modern slavery and to continually improve our practices.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Edgware Removals provides professional removal and relocation services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations include packing, transportation, storage and associated logistics. Our supply chain primarily consists of suppliers of vehicles, fuel, packing materials, storage facilities, equipment, and labour services, as well as professional advisers and other service providers. We expect all our suppliers and partners to share our commitment to ethical conduct and respect for human rights.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Edgware Removals maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This includes forced or compulsory labour, bonded labour, child labour that violates international standards, servitude, and any form of human trafficking. We are committed to ensuring that modern slavery has no place in our business or supply chains and that any indication of such practices is taken seriously and addressed promptly. Compliance with this policy is a condition of working with Edgware Removals.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect our suppliers, subcontractors and other business partners to uphold high ethical standards and comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws. As part of our due diligence processes, we assess new suppliers based on their compliance with legal requirements, working conditions, and alignment with our values. Where appropriate, we request confirmation from suppliers that they have their own policies and procedures in place to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking and that they apply these throughout their own supply chains.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Edgware Removals undertakes proportionate and risk-based supplier audits and checks to monitor compliance with our modern slavery expectations. These audits may include reviewing employment practices, verifying the right to work, assessing the use of recruitment agencies and subcontractors, and requesting supporting documentation from suppliers. Where concerns are identified, we engage with suppliers to seek clarification and remediation. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to meet our standards, we reserve the right to review, suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that effective prevention of modern slavery requires awareness and vigilance. Edgware Removals provides guidance to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management and operations, to help them understand the indicators of modern slavery and how to respond to potential concerns. We aim to foster a culture in which employees feel responsible for identifying risks and confident raising issues without fear of retaliation.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Edgware Removals encourages all employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspicions about modern slavery, whether within our business or in our supply chain. Concerns can be raised through internal management channels or via existing whistleblowing procedures. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively and investigated promptly. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, and appropriate action will be taken where wrongdoing is identified.
Remediation and Continuous Improvement
Where modern slavery risks or incidents are identified, Edgware Removals is committed to taking appropriate remedial action. This may include working with affected individuals, engaging with suppliers to address root causes, improving contractual requirements, and strengthening internal controls and procedures. We are committed to continually improving our approach, learning from best practice, and adapting our processes as risks and regulations evolve.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with our business activities and legal obligations. The review considers any identified risks, audit findings, reported concerns, changes in legislation and feedback from stakeholders. Following each review, any necessary updates to our policies, procedures or training are implemented. The statement is approved by the leadership of Edgware Removals, who hold ultimate responsibility for overseeing our commitment to preventing modern slavery within our operations and supply chains.
